Dante was here when I brought Liam home from the hospital. He was great with him although I always was very careful. D, as Liam calls him had a past. D looked at my mom as if she had brought this thing home to stay. In a dog's mind that's what a baby is just some strange thing. He barked and looked confused, but he never acted as if he would hurt the baby. I have pictures of them laying on the floor together when Liam was very tiny. Liam would call D whoa whoa D, because Dante would bark/talk just like a husky.
Dante loved to run!! He would run on the ridge right beside my car and jump in when he felt I would leave him behind. I walked him every time I could more times than I can count. He was a Houdini dog. He could break out of any bearer. He was so loyal to ones he loved. I know each person that he loved very well I believe my son was one of those people.
Dante was known to have a screw loose. He was not an easy dog to own to say the least, but I tried my damnedest to give him a great life. I tried to give him a normal doggy life. I wanted him to have the chance he deserved.
He has so many stories.... Jumped off of a 40 foot bridge into the water with not a stratch on him. Jumped off a balcony and hung himself when worker startled him. It was a long drop but it did not phase my D. He wondered the ridge and always returned except one time. I thought he was gone. A mont h had gone by and no sign of him. I was outside calling my mom's dog and heard his whoa whoa bark. His back leg was hanging of him and his other back leg was injured badly. After a long recovery Dante was back to his old self again.
I had to say goodbye to my dear friend. A friend that had been through more with me than any other creature on this planet. He was my long time companion, and I know he loved me a lot!
Dant run all you want free of pain. There are no fences in heaven buddy. We miss you, and I will always love you. Thanks for being here for me!!!
