Liam's First Month

Liam’s First Month

Coming home was exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time.  My Mom and brother took us home from the hospital.  They were both a big help!!!  We came home, and I just remember being very exhausted.  Liam was born Friday morning, and he slept all day Saturday.   On Sunday he woke up screaming. He didn’t stop until he was at home, in his crib. When we laid him down that night, he knew he was somewhere different.   His expression was priceless!  I was amazed.  He was totally aware of his environment.  I was extremely tired, but pumped to have him home.

The next day Mom and I packed up, and headed to Wal-Mart.  She had planned a dinner party in celebration of my new baby boy.  Liam enjoyed his first outing.  It’s funny, you know you are southern when your baby’s first outing is to Wal-Mart.   While we were there we bumped into a couple of people we knew.  They thought Liam was adorable.  We told them that he was having his first party this evening.  They were both impressed that we were out.  My friend even asked “Are you CRAZY?”  Crazy or not the party was a success!  We all laughed, and had a great time.  Everyone seemed very proud, relieved, and excited, that Liam was here.  We all talked about how gorgeous he was.  My grandmother predicted that he would be a good baby.  She was right, he is!

My bro was due back in Colorado that next afternoon.  It is always sad when he has to leave.  Before George took off we had lunch at Hill City Pizza.  The baby’s second outing!  This one was a little less red neck, and a little more sophisticated.  We were all walking down Frazier Ave towards Hill City, when I heard someone shout from their car window, “Margaret you look gorgeous already!! “  It was Kelly, one of my co-workers.   She made me feel like a million bucks.   The family had a nice lunch
together, after lunch George took off.

My Mom headed back to Atlanta shortly after George left.  I was on my own.  The next few weeks were filled with doctor’s appointments, visitors, the grocery, and hanging with the pups outside.  Liam had done so much by the time he was a month old.  He weathered his first hail storm.  He has enjoyed his first bath!  Liam took a trip to Atlanta.  He had his first photo shoot!   Liam Wesley Patten is already famous, with a plaque to prove it, on the Walnut Street Bridge.   I am so proud of my little boy.  His mommy has put him through the ringer already.   He’s a real trooper!
